A Bit About Teresa
Teresa Hall discovered the joys and benefits of staying active as a high school student teaching “aerobic classes” at a local gym. Since then, she has been committed to inspiring and educating others to improve their health and quality of life through physical activity. Teresa, one of the founding owners of the Nautilus fitness clubs in the Texoma area, holds a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Science from Texas Woman’s University. Additionally, she completed all her science-based Exercise Physiology courses as a doctoral student in the PhD program at Texas Woman’s University.
Besides working in the health club industry and teaching group fitness classes for over 30 years, Teresa’s love of movement has led to many fulfilling career opportunities. Throughout college she gained experience in corporate wellness for Texas Instruments fitness centers in the Dallas area. After completing her undergraduate degree, she worked as a clinical exercise physiologist in cardiac rehabilitation at Texoma Medical Center. Following graduate school Teresa was hired as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Austin College where she taught academic courses including exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sports nutrition for over 22 years. She was instrumental in the curriculum development, proposal, and passing of the Kinesiology major at the Austin College.
Teresa’s passion to promote fitness has also taken her around the world. She lived and worked in Munich, Germany as a group fitness instructor and has been actively involved as an educator and fitness presenter both at home and worldwide. As a continuing education provider for ACE and AFAA Teresa has presented educational workshops and trained health and fitness professionals internationally, including presentations at conventions in Asia, South Africa, and throughout Europe; nationally, at some of America’s most well respected health and fitness conventions such as SCW Fitness, LA Fit Expo, and Empower Fitness conventions; and locally at fitness clubs in DFW Metroplex including the world-renowned Cooper Fitness Center at the Cooper Institute, Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center, Lifetime Fitness, 24-Hour Fitness, and The Sports Club at Four Seasons, to name a few. Teresa also worked as R.I.P.P.E.D. Master Trainer for several years certifying instructors in the fitness format throughout the south in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
In the media Teresa has contributed as a staff writer to the Health & Wellness section of “Texoma Living Magazine”, has appeared over the years on local television stations as a fitness expert including hosting a weekly segment “Getting Fit with Teresa” on KTEN NBC affiliate, has been featured in the Swiss magazine “In Form,” “AsiaFit” magazine, and “DFW’s Health and Fitness” magazine, and was a cast member on ESPN 2’s “Crunch Fitness” appearing in several episodes of the national televised show.
Teresa has donated her time and talents to numerous local and national charities. She has presented at Dallas “Workout for Hope” and organized several workouts benefitting nonprofit organizations including the Women’s Crisis Center, Children’s Advocacy Center, Leukemia Society, American Heart Association, and Muscular Dystrophy Association. Since 2010 Teresa has served as chairperson for “Workout for a Wish” which has raised over $200,000 for Wishing Well Texoma.
Teresa loves the outdoors, traveling, camping, hiking, and biking. She draws inspiration from her everyday life with Jim (husband and Nautilus co-founder), and their two children Avery and Ross.
